“She felt ashamed at his reason for hitting her and didn’t want the nurse to think badly of her, so she smiled a watery smile, a painful one at that and then looked away.
‘He’ll keep doing it Aimee. I’ve seen it all before. I bet he even says it’s your fault and that you make him do it?’
Aimee couldn’t believe how accurate she was. She struggled to say, ‘But he does love me, I know he does.’
‘That’s not love Sweetheart, that’s control. He wants you under his thumb and under his conditions. It’s the only way that makes him feel like a man, when in actual fact, he’s just a bullying coward!’
Tears filled Aimee’s eyes.
Nurse Young repeated, ‘He’ll keep doing it Aimee and who knows, next time he could kill you. He very nearly did this time. Please let me help you Sweetheart.’
Aimee nodded. Her body shook with fear and uncertainty. Through a sore, clenched mouth she asked, ‘Please contact my friend Geneen and ask her to come.’ She then told the nurse where Geneen worked and she could contact her there. Nurse Young agreed and told her to think about her future and who she wanted to spend it with. Slowly but surely, Aimee was gradually coming to the conclusion she had to get away from him.”

A riveting tale about a young girl who yearns for love, but is controlled by the men she meets.

Hard-hitting and there's a lot of painful sexual exploitation and manipulation in this novel.

Well worth the read!
