Power over Ethernet (POE) is a technology compatible for wired ethernet Local Area Network (LAN) that allow electric current for operation of every device carried by data cables instead of power cables. In POE, the electric current travels from power supply end to device end to keep the current separate from data signal for reducing interfacing problems. If the device at other end of the cable is compatible with POE, then device works properly. If the device is not POE compatible, then Picker or Tap component is used for removing the current from the cable. The cable provides data connection and electrical power to the power devices in a single data cable such as CAT6, CAT6A or CAT5e.
The implementation of optical fiber cable for communication is expected to contribute increasing the growth of power over ethernet market. The advancement in technologies such as big data analysis and cloud-based services have increased the demand of data centers which is contributing to POE market growth.
