A year on from the credit crunch, Tutors International reports a 60% growth in full-time private tuition provided to UK families

Tutors International announces that despite the credit crunch, there has been a 60% rise in private tuition contracts arranged by the agency, as a proportion of last year's UK based results. The trend was revealed by an analysis of performance over the last five years, in addition to an upturn in enquiries from the American market following the end of recession announcement. The analysis also confirmed that the global credit crunch has not had the same adverse impact on Tutors International as other businesses who have endured a 25-30% downturn. "We're delighted by the results of our sales and enquiries analysis, especially considering the adverse market conditions caused by the credit crunch," said Tutors International founder Adam Caller. "We've seen many other companies in the private education sector really struggle over the last year, but in contrast, Tutors International has seen a 60% growth in the UK, making it one of the most successful regions of our global private tuition provision. Even though the UK is still officially in recession, the credit crunch simply hasn't had the impact on Tutors International that we feared when the depth of the financial crisis became apparent."

When asked why Tutors International's UK figures bucked the trend so remarkably, Adam replied; "I think there are three main reasons for our success in the UK market. Firstly, there is a great deal of dissatisfaction with schooling in the UK, something that was very apparent when speaking to parents at the recent Independent Schools Show. Secondly," Adam continued, "I have seen many parents realise that the change in their circumstances can actually be a great opportunity for the family to go travelling, or change their lifestyle more permanently. For these families, it makes sense to recruit a tutor who will fit in with them, rather than having to work around an inflexible school year. Finally, whilst affluent families have had to scale back on their lifestyles, they still have the resources to afford the best education for their children as they prioritise that over other reductions in expenditure.
