Adam Caller, founder of Tutors International, made the announcement. "We recently completed a detailed analysis of the last five years of sales enquiries, and the change in enquiry levels from America was a distinct change in trend. We saw a large drop in enquiries from America when the credit crunch hit; the affluent families in the United States did seem to be hit harder than in other parts of the world. However, since the announcement that the American recession is over, we're seeing a rapid change in enquiry levels, indicating to us that the demand for our private education services in America is recovering very quickly."

"I think there are several factors that explain this change in enquiries," Adam suggested when asked what could be contributing to such a rapid recovery towards pre-credit crunch enquiry levels. "One is that families hit by the credit crunch – or fearing that they would be – reigned in their spending rapidly and put every thing on hold. Having a full-time private tutor is a significant financial commitment, so understandably many did not want to consider it when times were tough and uncertain. Another factor is that the pound is still very weak against the dollar, and so our services are incredibly good value for money for an American family. I do think there are more subtle psychological reasons too," Adam added. "After effectively holding their breath, families are keen to solve the educational problems that their children have been suffering in the mean time. British education standards and the British curriculum is held in high regard by American families, especially amongst affluent circles who are keen to ensure their children benefit from the best education they can provide. Now the recession is over, it seems many are recognising that we are the agency of choice."
