Daktronics Booth Recognized as “Best Creative Use of Light” at the LDI 2009 Tradeshow

BROOKINGS, S.D. – December 1, 2009 – Invoking many different images for LDI attendees—outer space, Starship Enterprise and Battlestar Galactica to name a few—the eye-catching Daktronics booth impressed many including a panel of industry experts and the editors of “Live Design”. With an eye for the latest in technology, the panel reviewed many exhibits and presented Daktronics with the “Best Use of Creative Light” booth award at LDI 2009 in Orlando, Fla.

The award-winning booth was host to a wide range of Daktronics LED video technology including the PST-6i-b, the latest addition to the Daktronics PST modular video family, as well as PST-10 modular video panels and two different ProPixel® freeform LED stick elements. The ceiling component, designed with a number of curved and rotated video elements, showcased the creative flexibility of Daktronics freeform and modular LED product lines.

“The vision was to give the audio visual audience in attendance at LDI a look at the versatile nature of our product lines,” said Brent Joffer, Daktronics Video Specialist and Booth Designer. “While the design looked pretty complex, creating and building it was actually quite easy due to the lightweight and versatile nature of our modular and freeform video products. Creative applications of any scale requiring lighting effects up to full-motion video are easily achievable with these products.”

From module-based displays to freeform LED elements, Daktronics pixel mapping technology allows designers to combine multiple technologies to create engaging video presentations like those seen at the Daktronics booth. Using state-of-the-art image translation and aspect-ratio control, Daktronics pixel mapping allows users to spread video feeds across multiple products without any image distortion.

All of the products featured in the Daktronics booth have been making their way around the world enhancing major events such as Star Wars in Concert, the Frankfurt Motor Show, Elton John/Billy Joel and others.
