An Inspiring Start to Session 2018 -2019 at Banasthali

Banasthali Vidyapith has indeed given the state of Royal Rajasthan an identity with its unique educational ideology to nurture women leaders from a time when education for girl child virtually didn’t exist.

Rajasthan is invariably doubted and always questioned about its track record on social parameters, particularly gender, Banasthali story counters this perception in the sense that so many students of Banasthali find Rajasthan more gender sensitive than their own respective home states.

The ‘Banasthali story’ has no parallel across the globe as the evolution of the institution is unique in the sense that it is not a creation of philanthropist or an educationist but that of a beloved father Pt Hiralal Shastri a luminary of Indian freedom movement, signatory to the Constitution of India and the first Prime Minister of United States of Rajasthan along with a beloved mother Padma Bhushan Smt Ratan Shastri recipient of prestigious Jamnalal Bajaj Award, founded Banasthali on October 6, 1935 as they lost their promising daughter Shanta Bai before its hour and decided to train other girls the same way.

Banasthali embarked upon its mission with passion with only five students way back in 1935 when the concept of education for the girl child virtually didn’t exist. The founders went door-to-door to recruit students. There was no question of charging any fee and the founders also went door-to-door to collect donations to carry out their dream.

Today Banasthali stands as the world’s largest residential women’s university having more than 16,000 students on its 850-acre campus situated amidst rural setting in Rajasthan and having a distinct educational ideology and offering a variety of programmes from nursery up to doctoral-level across a wide spectrum of disciplines to prepare enlightened citizens with strong value-base.

It is a matter of pride that NITI Aayog had selected Banasthali along with ISB CCMB in Top 10 to host Atal Incubation Centre. Proud to be Banasthali alumni who call themselves as Banasthalites can be found in all latitudes, longitudes and altitudes in all walks of life across the globe. Banasthali has been in national and international media attention recently for getting the Four Star Ranking in Quacquarelli Symonds - QS Stars Rated for Excellence and Diamond status under QS i-Gauge Indian University Rating. Banasthali also has been ranked 2nd best university of India by The India Today-MDRA Best Universities Survey 2018.

Team Banasthali with Vice Chancellor J C Bose Memorial Award for eminent scientist recipient Prof Aditya Shastri a highly acclaimed alumnus of BITS Pilani, SUNY State University of New York Stony Brook and MIT USA is indeed racing forward to be the very best among global women universities

On 01 July 2018, all faculty gathered at the sprawling lawns in front of iconic Sharda Mandir for the auspicious inauguration of academic session 2018 – 2019. Prof Chitra Purohit President Banasthali Vidyapith hoisted the National flag followed by singing of the National Anthem and ushered in the new academic session. Congratulating Team Banasthali, she gave an inspiring speech highlighting the achievements of previous academic year and gave a clarion call for scaling new peaks of glory in the coming academic year. The program ended with singing of Vande Mataram.
