“These Hundred Questions are Dynamite,” Says Wim Wenders
BERLIN, September 5 – dropping knowledge today premieres a new film featuring acclaimed German filmmaker Wim Wenders.
Wenders is one of 112 participants who on September 9 will take a seat around the Table of Free Voices, a historic global gathering in central Berlin of some of the world’s most inspiring individuals.
These visionaries will engage with 100 questions out of the thousands donated to dropping knowledge by the global public, and their answers will provide the foundation of an unprecedented new web platform designed to promote dialog and social change.
“Frankly, and egotistically, I just wouldn’t want to miss the chance to sit on THAT table with all THESE people,” said Wenders in a statement to dropping knowledge about his participation at the Table of Free Voices. “And then I truly appreciate the effort that is made here: that all these answers to these questions from all over the world will become public domain is just too cool! I only hope that some of our answers will be as unconventional and surprising as the event and its parameters.”
With Alice in the Cities (1972), The Wrong Move (1974), and Kings of the Road (1975), Wenders emerged as a leading light of the New German Cinema. His reputation crossed over into the mainstream when Paris, Texas (1984) and Wings of Desire (1987) became global hits. He also scored an international hit with The Buena Vista Social Club (1999). Wenders has an outsider’s take on American culture, both appreciative and critical, and his latest film, Don’t Come Knocking (2005) is a skewed homage to the Western movies he adored as a child in post-war Germany.
