ViPNet Technology Progresses to the Evaluation Stage of Germany’s BSI Certification

Berlin, June 28, 2018 – Having already successfully achieved FIPS Certification in the US, the ViPNet encryption technology, developed by Infotecs, the international cyber security and threat intelligence provider, has now progressed to the evaluation stage of the certification process of the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI). ViPNet Crypto Core, the module being certified, is the main encryption component for protecting communications and a core element of the ViPNet VPN product line.

In today’s world of networked things connected via cloud computing and pervasive mobile devices, IT security plays a crucial role. The convergence of corporate networks with the Internet of Everything, critical infrastructure and the industrial internet has exponentially increased the numbers of vulnerabilities and attack vectors for cyber-attacks. In response to this Infotecs has developed its unique point-to-point ViPNet technology to provide comprehensive, multi-layer cyber protection.

Infotecs has submitted the ViPNet Crypto Core to BSI to certify that it conforms to the high standards of Common Criteria. Common Criteria (Common Criteria for Information Technology Security Evaluation, CC) is an international standard (ISO/IEC 15408) for computer security certification. In Germany it is conducted by BSI, an independent evaluation and certification authority. The complex evaluation procedure comprises several stages, the Evaluation Assurance Level (EAL), which states that the system's principal security features are reliably implemented.
