Campus Consortium, the largest global education association of schools, colleges and universities award Western Nebraska Community College (WNCC) a $22,495 Grant to implement a campus safety app for students and faculty.

“We have had a need for upgraded technology to streamline processes and realize efficiencies. As a public entity, budgets are ever tightening this grant from Campus Consortium for our Campus Safety App would assist in realizing our Strategic Outcome, which is to Enhance Campus Safety, Security, And Well-Being”, said Todd R. Holcomb, President at Western Nebraska Community College.

The Campus Consortium Grant will enable Western Nebraska Community College to further improve the safety and security on campus. The Campus Safety App brings this functionality to your smartphone for an added sense of security both on and off campus. The application uses Wi-Fi or cellular data to provide your location data when you make an emergency call with the app. This gives far more accurate information about where you are and therefore provides first responders with a better idea of where they need to go. Students can additionally redo the application to send alerts to their folks, gatekeepers or companions if there arises an occurrence of a crisis.

“The Campus Consortium Grant Committee is glad WNCC qualified for the Campus Safety Grant. Western Nebraska Community College is truly living up to its mission by being committed to enriching lives and invigorating communities”, stated Anjli Jain, Chairman of the Campus Consortium. “The app can avert accidents and definitely prove to be an asset for student security.”
