I Support Learning Releases New Video Game Design Curriculum and Update

Nashville, TN – November 19, 2009 – I Support Learning, Inc. (ISL) of Olathe, KS announced the release of their new Video Game Design 4.0 at the ACTE 2009 Conference in Nashville. This was a complete graphical and content update to their existing Video Game Design Curricula, released in 2004.

As noted by the Entertainment Software Association, video game design is the fastest-growing industry in the country right now, with software sales having quadrupled in the last 12 years, resulting in $22 billion USD in sales last year alone.

ISL’s Video Game Design curriculum teaches programming basics, design, and problem solving through the creation of video games. The self-directed, computer-based curriculum teaches students how to create games with their own images, voices, music and ideas. The training videos allow students to learn at their own pace. Upon completion of the project, students will have created a 3D video game that they can take home and play with friends and family.

The new curriculum, updated with the graphical engine introduced earlier this year, gives a visible and contemporary look to the previous release, as well as expanding on the lessons given within the course. Students can now receive an introductory certification upon completing the course as well.

Along with the new interface, the content of the curriculum was also updated. Given a new storyline, updated interactions within the career simulation itself, and more in-depth knowledge concerning video game design and the video game industry, the updated curriculum is an improvement over the previous release.

Our educators facilitating our 3D video game design course have been able to give us feedback and we took the time to add in changes our educators have asked for while we updated the content. This is part of a refresh of all our courses it’s important to update things and keep them fresh in order to reach this digital generation. If something isn’t new or up-to-date, they’ll recognize that and it will become less engaging for them.”
