Shoppers already gearing up for holiday season

Even though it’s only August, consumers across the country are already starting to realize that the holiday season is just around the corner. And that means mall and shopping center traffic is about to increase tenfold, which makes the idea of shopping online very appealing.

Those who shop online say the reason they buy from home is that the hassle of dealing with parking, long lines and crowds is eliminated. Because most popular stores like Target, Bath & Body Works and the Gap sell the same products found in their stores on their Web sites, shoppers don’t have to feel like they’re missing out by not leaving the computer.

Still, shopping for gifts online might save consumers from the headache of busy stores and miles-away parking spots, but by no means does it make finding the right gifts — especially for the hard to buy for — any easier.

Retailers like Valley Village, California-based bath accessory shop Bath Lush realize this problem, so to help out stumped shoppers, they've created lists of gift ideas. A special section on the Bath Lush Web site gives visitors a few ideas on what to buy, like frames and candles, and hopefully from those ideas consumers will find a suitable gift by the time they're finished browsing the site.

At this point, it's too early to tell if there will be an increase in online holiday shopping, though it’s certain that those who buy gifts online will dodge at least some of the stress of the typically chaotic holiday shopping season.
