Oxnard and Port Hueneme Youth Invited to Attend Fun and Exciting Summer Camps

Registrations are now open for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme’s Summer Camp program, where kids can have fun with friends and learn at the same time. The summer program runs June 18 - Aug. 24, and is open to youth ages 6-13.

Club members are invited to participate in age-specific programming during 10 weeks of themed camps which focus on athletics, music, arts, technology and games. Sports Camps for Champs will be offered each week and includes basketball, soccer and flag football.

The cost of participation is $90-$95 dollars a week for day camps.

Early drop off (7 a.m.) and late pick up (6 p.m.) is included with general membership. BGCOP will provide financial assistance to any child that is unable to pay for the camps. Camp programs run 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Day Camps will be held at two locations this summer, the Martin V. Smith Clubhouse, 1900 West 5th Street, Oxnard; and the Port Hueneme Branch, 590 East Pleasant Valley Road, Port Hueneme.

“The Summer Day Camp Program offers youth a healthy and positive place to spend time during the summer months,” said Erin Antrim, chief executive officer, Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme. “We are proud to offer young people a place where they can engage in positive activities both after school and during school breaks.”

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme (BGCOP) is a nonprofit 501(c) (3) youth service organization. BGCOP’s mission is “to inspire and enable all youth, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential, as productive, responsible and caring citizens.” Services are provided in three freestanding clubhouses in Oxnard and Port Hueneme which include a dedicated Teen Center, 11 public school program sites, one club site in Nyeland Acres, one site at a Squires Public Housing, and the first Boys & Girls Club in a juvenile hall in the State of California. The purpose of BGCOP is to provide social, educational and recreational programs to all youth ages 6-18 years old, with an emphasis on those in underserved areas. Annual member dues is $20.00 however, no one is turned away regardless of ability to pay. Over 10,400 youth and teens are served annually.
