ONWARD HOLDINGS IS THE STAGE FOR UNIQUE ‘ROADIE’ SCHOOL

Onward Holdings Ltd is providing the stage for the next generation of backstage professionals to keep musicals and pop stars on the road after a unique academy moved to the company’s Langthwaite Business Park site in South Kirkby, near Wakefield in West Yorkshire.

Renowned for supplying high quality sites for warehouse and logistics operations, Onward Holdings’ flexible approach was sweet music to the ears of Cato Academy, a unique learning facility for ‘roadies’ to learn their trade and become live events industry professionals.

Langthwaite Business Park has proved to be the ideal location for the ‘Roadie School’ – the only one of its kind in the world – as the site is close to Production Park, which has been developed into a community of live events businesses attracting the world’s biggest acts.

From its South Kirkby teaching facility Cato Academy, in partnership with Production Park’s Backstage Academy, is dedicated to training the next generation of support crews and technicians for events such as Glastonbury and Reading festivals for years to come.

Students aspiring to be production managers, backline technicians and live sound engineers, gain genuine experience of the logistics involved in touring with a band and staging gigs. Cato Academy’s facilities include a lecture theatre and a sound studio, along with a number of smaller teaching rooms and offices. They also have access to Production Park’s two rehearsal studios.

Onward Holdings is a fourth generation family-run business founded in 1930 which is renowned for developing and operating warehousing and industrial units. This includes the provision of bespoke or shared multi-sized warehouse facilities in the M62/M1/A1 corridor of West Yorkshire.
