Niryas.com : According to a recent research in the UK more than 200,000 women across the nation suffer from Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD), each year. The study further unraveled that women were more susceptible to AMD then their male counterparts. It was found that most women (aged over 50 years) sought treatment for their eyesight deterioration at the last stage, when nothing much could be done. In most cases, such women were robbed of their central vision required to read, write, drive or simply recognize their known faces. In other drastic situations it led to a complete blindness.

Loss of eyesight is a common problem for the women of this generation and it is often fueled by the lack of proper diet and other lifestyle issues. Like any other part of the body, the eyes also comprise of a network of cells that lose some bit of their strength each year due to overuse and lack of nourishment. When you do not nourish the eye cells your eyesight might lose its vigor quite quickly. As a result, once you hit 50, small problems with the eyesight start appearing and soon you find that the vision deteriorates quite drastically. Women who contact their doctors early are able to regain some parts of their vision. But in most instances, women tend to overlook their decreasing sense of vision.

Leading eye specialists across the globe have only one suggestion to get over the problems of AMD. They want all women to start consuming at least a glass of pure milk each day. As you might be knowing, milk is high in Vitamin D content. The regular dose of Vitamin D, augers well for your eyes. The weakening muscles of the eyes, gain strength from your pure milk intake. Strong eye muscles can keep at bay AMD and other age related eyesight problems to a greater extent.

But a word of warning should also be sounded in this regard. The benefits of milk intake can only be reaped if you are having pure milk which does not have impurities. This is why, modern day women should stay proactive about their choice of the milk brand. You do not want to take undue risks, when your vision is at stake!

Apart from milk, food items such as fish, fortified cereal and fortified margarine are also deemed to be high on Vitamin D. You could also make them a part of your diet.
