Press release from: Thieme Publishers

Science of Synthesis has expanded by 2 volumes and now contains a total of 42 volumes. The two new volumes are from Category 5 (Compounds with One Saturated Carbon—Heteroatom Bond) and include Volume 40 (Schaumann/Enders), which consists of Amines, Ammonium Salts, Amine N-Oxides, Haloamines, Hydroxylamines and Sulfur Analogues, and Hydrazines and Volume 42 (Mathey), which consists of Organophosphorus Compounds (including RO—P and RN—P). This release contains a total of 15,476 reactions, bringing the total of reactions within Science of Synthesis to 238,285.

“There has been a great deal of work done in the field of organophosphorus chemistry in recent decades so we are very pleased to be adding such pertinent content, as detailed in Volume 42, at this point. Phosphorus plays an important role in homogeneous catalysis and biochemistry as well as in organic synthesis. Also, the addition of Volume 40, focusing on the synthesis of amines and related organonitrogen compounds, adds great value to the entire series. Providing such essential content empowers the organic synthetic chemist, for example, in their selection of reliable methods for natural product synthesis," says Dr. M. Fiona Shortt de Hernandez, Managing Editor of Science of Synthesis.

Developed in cooperation with InfoChem, Science of Synthesis possesses a user-friendly search function that allows substructure, exact structure, reaction, combined keyword, and full-text searches. Within the application, a structure search is quick and easy since users have the ability to choose between multiple structure drawing tools (ISIS Draw, Java Applet, and ChemDraw). Its compatibility with SFX assists librarians in navigating literature requests of Science of Synthesis users to resources and services relevant to their search queries. Science of Synthesis Version 3.8 is fully compatible with both Windows and Macintosh and supports Internet Explorer, Firefox, and Safari browsers.
