Based on application, the market can be segregated into engine oil cooling fan controller and transmission oil cooling fan controller. Engine oil cooling fan controller is used to regulate the speed of the fan, which is installed to remove the excess temperature of the engine oil. Transmission oil cooling fan controller is used to reduce the temperature of the lubricant utilized in the transmission system.
In terms of position of the sensor, the automotive oil cooling fan controller market can be classified into outlet position sensor and inlet position sensor. The outlet position sensor is installed at the outlet of the radiator in order to monitor the temperature of the coolant coming out of the radiator. Inlet position sensor of the automotive oil cooling fan controller is installed at the inlet of the radiator to check the temperature of the coolant entering the radiator.

Based on cooler type, the automotive oil cooling fan controller market can be segregated into oil cooled and water cooled. In the oil cooled cooler, oil is used as the coolant in the radiator, while in the water cooled cooler, water is used as the coolant in the radiator for removal of excess heat. Oil cooled cooling systems are considered to be more efficient and mostly utilized in high performance vehicles, while water cooled systems are employed mostly in commercial vehicles.
