A Healthy Summer 09 for UK Tourism as Visitors Surge from Overseas

Despite the current recession in the UK, Harmony Cars saw an increase in tourism and enquiries from visitors to take them on sightseeing tours.

Last month saw the end of the summer holidays, and visitors to the UK took full advantage of the cheaper shopping and hotels due to the good currency exchange rates favouring the US Dollar and Euro. With these great rates the Summer 2009 gave many tourists the benefit of at least a 20% reduction in holiday expenditure on the same period for last year.

The trend doesn’t look like slowing down either. October has seen many more visitors than expected, and next month the 5th November will see Guy Fawkes Night, celebrating the famous gunpowder plot to blow up the houses of parliament - a traditional British celebration that isn’t usually taken advantage of by tourists. With thousands of fireworks events taking place, the night skies come alive with bright and exploding displays from parks and fields all over the country.

The Christmas period is expected to entice a further flurry of excited tourists, particularly to the capital.

Interestingly, these tourists are shown to be increasingly taking advantage of the chauffeur driven tours around London, Oxford, Stonehenge, Hampton Court and Shakespeare’s home in Stratford-upon-Avon amongst other places.
