Nine out of every 10 parents would encourage their child to pursue a future in medicine. Yet at the same time, many parents are unsure of how to encourage and foster this in a positive and nurturing way. That is where How to Raise a Doctor: Wisdom From Parents Who Did It! provides answers.

How to Raise a Doctor: Wisdom From Parents Who Did It (ISBN 978-1945507991, Clovercroft Publishing, 2018) by Dr. Dale Okorodudu, a thoughtful and insightful book providing wisdom and advice from parents who did just what the title suggests has been released for mass distribution. Drawing from his experience in guiding students to medical school as co-founder of PreMedSTAR.com, (an online community where notable medical schools recruit medical students), along with interviews and meetings with over 75 parents of physicians, Dr. Dale has written a book that will inform parents how to guide their children along the medical path, or any pathway of leadership. The book serves as a how to guide and offers candid insights, guidance, and antidotes from parents who raised both doctors and leaders. How to Raise a Doctor: Wisdom From Parents Who Did It retails for $15.99 in paperback edition and $9.99 in Kindle.

“The idea of writing How to Raise a Doctor came after I was contacted by parents who had seen my team’s Black Men In White Coats videos,” said Dr. Dale. “These parents had a simple question; how can I help my child become a doctor? I realized it would be helpful to put the advice into a book and share with parents everywhere who are interested in raising not only doctors, but leaders in society.”

“And who would be better to offer advice on doing this than parents who actually raised doctors,” continued Dr. Dale. “After interviewing these parents, what I found most interesting was most of them didn’t begin with the intention of raising future doctors. Rather, they noticed their children’s potential and interests, then fostered them by providing essential guidance and support. It’s within this guidance and support that I found a common thread among the doctors’ parents.”

“From the stories that were shared with me, it’s clear how many of these parents actively developed their children not only to become doctors but leaders in life. Their wisdom is the source for this book,” concluded Dr. Dale. “I believe the information they offered in How to Raise a Doctor is invaluable to parents regardless of what lifepath their children follow.”
