mafi earns red dot design award

In one of the most renowned and hardest international design competitions, the red dot design award, the mafi fresco duna white by mafi – walk on art has just received an honourable mention from the top-class expert jury. With 3,231 products submitted to the competition, the product clearly stands out from the masses, because the design experts awarded 194 honourable mentions to those products which distinguished themselves with particularly successful design details. The festive awards presentation with more than 1,000 guests will take place in the Essen Opera House, the Aalto-Theatre, on 29 June 2009.

For 17 years Mafi in Schneegattern, Upper Austria, has been known both nationally and internationally even among the highest leagues of lifestyle architecture for the manufacture of fine, high quality natural wood floors. The wood-processing company was founded almost 80 years ago by the Fillafer family when work started at their own sawmill. In 1992 Fritz Fillafer began to specialize in the production of oiled country-style floors. Today Mafi has more than 70 employees at its plant covering 5,000m² on the edge of the Kobernaußer Forest. With its production volume of 400,000 m² country house floors per year, the famous wood processing company today rates among the best established innovative family-run businesses in the Austrian natural wood floor branch.
