Focus Istanbul VernissageTV produced two exhibition walkthroughs of the 11th Istanbul Biennale. The biennial presents mostly politically and socially engaged artworks at three venues: Antrepo No. 3, Feriköy Greek School and Tobacco Warehouse. Visitors are confronted with works by artists such as Wafa Hourani, Michel Journiac, Nilbar Güreş, Shahab Fotouhi, Marina Naprushkina, KP Brehmer, Vyacheslav Akhunov, Hamlet Hovsepian, Lisi Raskin, and Société Réaliste. In addition to the Biennale videos there's also: > a report on the exhibition "Joseph Beuys and His Students – Works from the Deutsche Bank Collection" at the Sakip Sabanci Museum Istanbul, > coverage of the opening reception of the retrospective Sarkis: Site at the Istanbul Museum of Modern Art (coming soon), > an interview with Marcus Graf, Head of the Guided Tour Department of the 11th Istanbul Biennale, who talks about the history of the Istanbul Biennial, > an interview with the Miami-based artist duo Guerra de la Paz, who have a solo show at Artane Gallery Istanbul, > a visit to an installation by artist Serge Spitzer in a former synagog in Istanbul (coming soon), > an interview with David Elliot, former director of the Istanbul Museum of Modern Art and now artistic director of the Sydney Biennale 2010 (coming soon). Veilhan at Versailles Palace, Utopics in Biel, and an anniversary in Berlin Last year, Jeff Koons had a big success when he took over the Château de Versailles. This year, a French artist, Xavier Veilhan presents his works in the palace and the gardens of Versailles. In the Swiss town of Biel/Bienne, VernissageTV had a look at Utopics, an exhibition project that presents artworks in open space. The video was realized in cooperation with the major German art magazine Art – Das Kunstmagazin. Art-correspondent Gerhard Mack reviews the show and talks about the works by Nedko Solakov, Andreas Golinski und Gerda Steiner & Jörg Lenzlinger. In Berlin, the Haus der Kulturen der Welt celebrates its 20th Anniversary. VernissageTV filmed Swiss artist Christian Philipp Müller's performance. Additional episodes follow soon. A video that documents the installation of Tadashi Kawamata's Berlin Tree Huts is already online. All episodes are available online at www.vernissage.tv. The upcoming episodes will focus on the art scene in Berlin und London, including the art fairs Art Forum Berlin and Frieze Art Fair.
