Gardere’s Bayer Given Alumni Service Award By Bowdoin Alumni Council

Mr. Bayer, Bowdoin class of 1979, received the award in recognition of his record of volunteer service to the college. He was President of the Alumni Council, has chaired the Executive Committee, Minority Committee and Nominations Committee, and has also served on the Career Services Committee and Leadership Gift Committee. He was also special gifts chair for the last two reunions.
He also has volunteered his time with the Bowdoin Alumni Schools and Interviewing Committees (BASIC). Mr. Bayer currently serves the College as a Class Agent, in addition to volunteer duties as alumni representative to the Board of Trustees and the Development and College Relations Committee.
"My volunteer experiences with Bowdoin have been incredibly rewarding and I have never worked with a more interesting group of people," Mr. Bayer says. "I can't think of a better service to the Common Good than supporting the College's mission."
Founded in 1794, Bowdoin College is a 1,700-student liberal arts college in Brunswick, Maine. Mr. Bayer graduated cum laude with majors in government and sociology before going on to the Columbia University School of Law. His son, Stephen, is a member of the Class of 2012.
The Alumni Service Award was presented on May 30 during the college’s Reunion Convocation.

Mark Bayer has more than 27 years of major case litigation experience. His emphasis is on antitrust, distribution issues, theft of trade secrets, intellectual property, class actions and other complex litigation.
