Gardere Partner Appointed to Texas Access to Justice Commission

Ms. Godbey, a prominent litigator and a member of Gardere’s trial practice group, has been practicing law for more than 25 years and is best known for her expertise in insurance litigation. In addition to her legal work, she is also committed to public service and has served on multiple legal and non-legal boards.
The Texas Access to Justice Commission was created in 2001 by the Texas Supreme Court to provide statewide leadership to improve the quantity and quality of legal services to low income and poor Texans. Ms. Godbey’s term on the commission began June 1.

The Texas Access to Justice Foundation is the primary funding source for legal aid programs throughout the state. More than 230,000 poor and low-income Texans receive direct legal assistance from Legal Aid each year.
“Attorneys are in a unique position to provide assistance to low income Texans,” Ms. Godbey says. “I’m honored to serve on a commission dedicated to opening the courthouse doors to our state’s most vulnerable citizens.”
Ms. Godbey's trial practice emphasizes tort litigation, including ERISA litigation, personal injury, products liability, deceptive trade practices, insurance and negligence cases. She has tried more than 40 lawsuits, winning cases for clients in a variety of industries.
