PSI and Vodafone present new push-to-talk solution at CeBIT 2009 |
||
| Pressemitteilung von: PSI AG | ||
With PTT, individuals can be contacted directly or a group of people can be selected and called. The caller initiates the voice communication by pressing a special PTT button on the handset. A Vodafone mobile phone contract with a data plan is required to use push-to-talk. In addition to this, there is an option for location-based group calling. Any mobile phone's geographic position can be determined using GPS or cellular network positioning and its exact location displayed on a map. Dynamic groups can be formed based on this location information, such as taxis that are within a radius of five kilometres around a football stadium. Fixed search areas, for instance around an airport, can also be defined. These search areas are then automatically assigned to PTT groups when users drive into the search area. The push-to-talk solution is available for the Symbian S60 and Windows Mobile 6 operating systems, among others. The number of supported device types is growing continuously. PSI AG develops and integrates complete solutions, on the basis of its own software products, for the management of energy networks (electricity, gas, oil, heat, water), cross-company production management (metals, automotive, mechanical engineering, logistics) and infrastructure management for telecommunications, transport and safety. PSI was founded in 1969 and employs 1,100 persons in the group. www.psi.de/en/home/, www.psitrans.de/en/ptr-telecommunication/solutions/servic...
