Impact of Glycomics; Use of Computational Biology in Glycomics Highlighted

Pressemitteilung von: PREMIER Biosoft International
(openPR) - Palo Alto, California—September 8, 2008, PREMIER Biosoft President, Ms. Kay Brown was interviewed by the Impact of Glycomics radio show, a show dedicated to knowledge sharing about the field of glycomics and the research within the field. Recognizing PREMIER Biosoft's contribution to this area, Dr. John McKenna decided to share PREMIER Biosoft's views with his listeners.

“The model that focused on data mining and analysis has shifted to data visualization as far as glycomics is concerned. Structures of sugar molecules and how they interact with proteins to form complexes is important for research scientists and commercial organizations alike”, says Ms. Brown. “Our aim is to deliver a complete analysis and research solution for characterizing glycans, glycoproteins and glycopeptides.”

With the focus now shifting from Genomics to Proteomics, PREMIER Biosoft has marked its entry into this arena with the launch of SimGlycan. It is aimed to aid research in glycobiology by predicting glycan structures using MS/MS data. SimGlycan has the largest hand curated database of glycans and has proprietary search and scoring algorithms to help save time.
