Galileo Tools and Empirius seal sales partnership
Munich, August 21 2008 - Galileo Tools GmbH, one of the leading suppliers of software solutions for change and transport management of SAP® and Empirius GmbH announce today, that they have signed a bilateral reseller agreement, allowing Galileo Tools to sell the Empirius product Blue System Copy and Empirius to resell the Galileo product Conigma QCOPY. Now both parties are able to provide a complete solution to automate the process of creating a SAP® system copy. For many SAP customers, creating a SAP system copy is a frequently executed task, being cost intense and error-prone as many steps and checks still needs to be done manually. The combination of the both products from Galileo and Empirius now enable the user to setup a nearly full automatic process, which is much faster than the manual process, delivering higher quality, leading to significant cost savings regarding the operation of SAP.
„In order to ensure that their SAP consultants are provided with up-to-date test data, the IT department in many companies have to copy the SAP production system back to the SAP quality assurance (QA) system several times each year. However, after the productive system has been copied to the QA system, tables, parameters and other QA system-specific configurations need to be rebuilt, as well as all software components which were not installed in the productive system yet, but were already in the QA system, must be imported again. At present, in order to do this, the SAP basis administrators quite often needs several days to build a consistent QA system again. While this task is being performed, the QA system is out of action – which means that urgent new developments released during this period of time are often transported straight into the production system without any quality assurance, causing additional manual work on the QA system after this is available. The complexity of this manual process results in many cases in faulty QA systems, causing expensive and time consuming work of specialists to cure the problem,“ said Josef Huber, General Manager of Galileo Tools GmbH. „In particular, if a company operates several parallel SAP landscapes, they often have fifty and more SAP system copies per year, each of this asking two to three days work and finally resulting in significant costs of more than hundred thousand Euros yearly. A big portion of this cost can be saved by automating the copy process as well as there are additional benefits like enhanced quality and a much quicker return to normal operations.“
Blue System Copy
Blue System Copy optimizes and automates SAP’s standard process for system copies and enhances this process significantly with additional functionality. Blue System Copy allows copying SAP systems with an ABAP stack as well as SAP systems with a double stack. User Exits and R/3 User Exits allow creating and integrating customized automation steps, i.e. stopping and restarting the SAP system or third-party components, start the restore from tape or using customized preparation and post-processing jobs, as well as sending email notifications or to start the BDLS transaction. Preparation, cleanup and post-processing are large extents carried out automatically (settings which need to be kept on the target system are backed up prior to the copy job and automatically restored afterwards, e. g. within ALE scenarios).
Conigma QCOPY
Conigma™ QCOPY, part of the Conigma™ Suite, ensures after an SAP system copy and restauration that all required customizing and software components are installed automatically to achieve a consistent new configuration. Conigma QCOPY allows the user via a simple, intuitive graphical user interface to rebuild an SAP system into a consistent status after a system copy, and it also facilitates copying between different SAP clients. While it is not possible with the SAP interface to control technical modes how a software component needs to be installed, such modes are recognized by Conigma QCOPY and automatically implemented correctly.
Additionally, independent from automating the process of a system copy or a restore from a backup, Conigma QCOPY allows many other operations on SAP queues, which are also controlled via the graphical user interface.
