(openPR) - Donegal, Ireland and Austin, TX, June 20, 2008 – Iontas disclosed today that they were recently awarded matching funds for their innovative research and development to facilitate the creation of a substantial new component for the Process Focus software product. The investment of over $1m will be funded up to 45% by Enterprise Ireland, the Irish state body responsible for promoting Irish companies in Global markets.

Iontas, recently described by IDC, as the “Missing Link” in Workforce Optimization, is slated to produce a new component to be of international value; revolutionizing process identification in the Business Process Management world. By examining activities performed on devices such as desktops, the new product will allow for automatic discovery of human driven business processes. Currently BPM projects require process discovery by watching workers and documenting workflow manually. This new component to Process Focus will automatically discover processes by identifying repetitive steps and flag these steps as processes, thereby quickly accelerating the amount of time in the process discovery phase of BPM initiatives.

According to industry analysts, process discovery is the biggest hurdle to jump in Business Process Management. Normally, processes are only defined and labeled based on general hypothesis or physical observation of a worker as he/she completes a task. This is the first time process discovery can be automated and real data – the “Missing Link” – enhances BPM initiatives.

“This is the most difficult and time consuming task when implementing a BPM strategy,” said Martin McCreesh, CTO of Iontas. “It is sure to simplify process identification and management for our clients and to increase efficiency and profitability.”

Chris Schnurr, Engineering manager at Iontas commented, “We are delighted to receive the backing of Enterprise Ireland for this project which will see the creation of new highly skilled engineering jobs in Donegal and will significantly enhance demand for the Iontas Focus software suite in the global market of Process detection.”
