La Canada Flintridge Rescue cats find new homes at Super Adoption Festival

(openPR) - La Canada Flintridge, Calif.—On April 27, Happy Strays Rescue, a local not for profit organization that cares for abandoned, stray, and orphaned cats and kittens, participated in the Best Friends Annual Society Spring Super Adoption Festival in North Hollywood, Calif.

An estimated 300 pets were placed as a result of the annual festival, including five cats from the Happy Strays Rescue group. The rescue was thrilled to find a permanent and loving home for Willow and Noah, two healthy feline leukemia positive cats. In fact, many shelters automatically euthanize leukemia cats, and some rescues are unable to take them as they have to focus on the cats that have the best chance of getting adopted. “It was a wonderful day meeting so many loving caring people who came out to find their new furry friends,” said volunteer Rosemary Miller.

Billed as California’s largest adoption event, the free event, organized by the Los Angeles Programs of Best Friends Animal Society (www.bestfriends.org), is intended to find new homes for animals in an upbeat, festival-like atmosphere that offers fun for the whole family.

“We feel these events are important to participate in especially because the public sees first-hand so many homeless pets, and it makes it so worth it when our cats get their forever homes,” said Jan Magnuson, founder of Happy Strays Rescue. Happy Strays Rescue holds weekly Saturday adoptions at the Petco in La Canada from 11 AM to 3:30 PM. Kitten season is officially here and the rescue’s cats and kittens will be available for adoption all summer long.
