Tom Taylor named PM Ambassador™ in UK

(openPR) - APM Fellow Tom Taylor joins the PM Ambassadors™ Speakers Bureau in England

Dallas, Texas — PMForum, Inc. is pleased to announce that Tom Taylor, former Chairman and a Fellow of the Association for Project Management (APM) in the UK, has joined the PM AmbassadorsTM Speakers Bureau. Based in London and with over 30 years of front-line project management experience, Tom advises organizations and speaks on project management throughout the UK. He has now announced his availability to speak at project management events worldwide.

According to PMForum president David Pells, “Tom Taylor is one of the most original and entertaining speakers in the project management world. He is also one of the world’s leading thought leaders related to sustainable development, as it applies to projects, programs and project management. I had the pleasure of meeting him in 2005 when he was APM Chairman, and have watched his accomplishments and reputation increase since then. I am pleased and honored to have him join our speakers’ bureau.”

Tom Taylor is a well known and well respected project management leader in the UK. He is also an original, enthusiastic thinker, speaker, presenter, broadcaster and author on project related themes. He is experienced in event chairmanship, workshop facilitation, panel leadership and participation as well as providing lectures, talks and presentations. Venues have stretched across the world; in U.K. have included Royal Albert Hall, Excel, many Universities, Bridgewater Hall – Manchester and others.

Tom became an enthusiastic project manager in the 1970s. His project experience is mainly in U.K. usually with a construction aspect. He has covered a wide selection of sectors, project types, client bodies, contract forms, procurement routes, project teams and mixtures of activities (programmes). Projects with profile include the Cable and Wireless College, the RADA Centenary Project and the National Tennis Centre for the Lawn Tennis Association. He has also been an advisor, expert witness and trouble-shooter. Employment has included ARUP, KF Baker and Partners and Laing Management Contracting. In 1985 Tom was a joint founder of Buro Four an eminent UK project management outfit and its initial chairman for fifteen years.

Tom is former Chair and current Vice President of APM and was the recipient of the inaugural APM President’s Medal in 2007. He is a Certificated Project Manager (CPM) and Fellow of APM. He also has links with IPMA and national PM associations, particularly supporting involvement of next generation project managers. He is an innovative supporter and promoter of the involvement of managers of projects in Sustainability, the Environment and Green Issues. He is an occasional PM lecturer at the Bartlett School of Architecture – London and at Bath University, as well as being an external PM examiner at U.C.L. Tom is also author of articles, media pieces and books including “How to Select the Right Project Manager”, “Characteristics of Effective Project Managers”, “Management in Practice” and “GMPM” – with others in preparation.
