Cannibals are eyeing people up on MySpace with view to eating them, warns crime author in a new book

Jimmy Lee Shreeve - whose new book "Cannibals" is out this month from Blake Books (www.jimmyleeshreeve.com) - reveals how one UK cannibal contacted him via the internet, claiming he obtained his "long pork" from mortuaries and graveyards.
"He insisted he'd never killed anyone," says Jimmy, who lives in Norwich, eastern England. "And I don't think this guy ever would. But others out there certainly might..."
Hearing that Jimmy was writing a book on human flesh eaters, the cannibal, who called himself Eric Soames, got in touch with him for help with his condition, which he believed was down to being possessed by an evil spirit.
"Soames told me he first got the urge to taste human flesh as a child during the 1950s," says Jimmy. "His parents were pretty abusive and he claimed he called up the devil in his despair. After that, he had uncontrollable urges to consume his own kind. But he didn't want to murder anyone, so he found ways of getting human flesh from mortuaries and even cemeteries. He'd take a sharp knife, cut bits off, and take them home and fry them up in a pan."
The cannibal continued this macabre practise up until recently when, on Soames' request, Jimmy arranged for a Canadian shaman friend of his - called Elias Crazywolf - to fly over and perform an exorcism on him. "The ceremony was performed in the Gogmagog Hills, just outside Cambridge, because Crazywolf believed it was an ancient place of great power," says Jimmy. "And whether you believe in that kind of thing or not, it seemed to work and rid Soames of his urge to eat human flesh."
Sickeningly, Soames told Jimmy of cannibal groups circulating on the internet, looking for potential victims.
"He told me that cannibals are eyeing people up on MySpace and Facebook with view to eating them," Jimmy says. "He put me in touch with some of them for my research for my book on cannibalism. On the whole, I'd say they are nutters, horrible but harmless."
What does concern Jimmy is that most had jobs and led outwardly normal lives.
"You wouldn't recognise them for what they were if they lived next door to you," warns Jimmy. "My fear is that one day they might single someone out from MySpace or Facebook, track them down, and do an Armin Meiwes on them. There are a lot of users of social networking sites around the world and they should beware..."
