(openPR) - DALLAS - A Dallas law firm nationally recognized for high-profile, high-stakes litigation is announcing the elevation of longtime partner John T. “Trey” Cox III to name partner in the firm.

Now known as Lynn Tillotson Pinker & Cox, LLP, the 15-year-old litigation boutique has been recognized twice by The National Law Journal for the “Defense Win of the Year.” The firm has recovered more than $300 million for clients and defeated at trial claims of more than $800 million in just the past eight years.

“Trey has quickly developed and built on a reputation for outstanding legal skills and zealous advocacy for his clients. Putting Trey’s name in the firm name reflects the respect of his colleagues at the firm and throughout the legal community. The recognition is well deserved,” says Mike Lynn, a firm founding partner.

Mr. Cox represents clients in high-stake business disputes. He is Board Certified as a Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy.

Mr. Cox joined the firm in 1997, and was named as a partner in 2000. He has tried a significant number of state and federal jury trials, litigated hundreds of evidentiary hearings, and has extensive experience arguing cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and many Texas courts of appeal.

Among his many professional honors, Mr. Cox has been named in D Magazine as one of the region’s “Best Lawyers Under 40” on three separate occasions. He also earned selection in Lawdragon as one of 500 Rising Stars in American Law, and he is a repeat member of the Texas Super Lawyers list in Texas Monthly magazine. A graduate of Washington & Lee University, he earned his law degree from the University of Virginia and has lectured across the nation on topics including trial strategy and managing complex litigation.

Mr. Cox and his wife, Assistant U.S. Attorney Erin Nealy Cox, are committed to several charities including the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and Children’s Medical Center of Dallas, where they are charter members of the Children’s Trust.
