(openPR) - Franz Klammer is one of Austria's true skiing legends. It was in the 1970ies that he was at his zenith and celebrated his greatest successes: he won the gold medal in downhill skiing at the Innsbruck Olympics, gained the World Cup downhill title five times, came in first and second in combined and downhill respectively at the skiing world cup in St. Moritz in 1974. Thus, it is no coincidence that the sport on white has stayed his passion after the end of his professional career. Today, the 54-year-old is passing on his knowledge and experience in a very special way. As the head of the testing board of the 'World Skitest', Klammer has gathered a team of renowned athletes and celebrities around him. Together they test the latest models of the biggest international skiing equipment manufacturers. This year he is coming to Zell am See and Kaprun.

From 1st to 4th April Klammer and his team are making a stop at 2,000-metre-high Schmittenhöhe. Within the scope of the great 'Sun, Snow & Party Week', the traditional major event in spring, the Skitest is definitely the sportive highlight. The pistes of the local mountain of Zell provide the perfect terrain for the jury to put the latest skis for the winter season of 2008/2009 to the acid test. After the brand names have been covered with black tape, the models of the ten best-known manufacturers worldwide are being tested in six different categories, among them 'Cross Skis' and 'Ladies' Race Skis'. That way, the jurors, who are international journalists, celebrities or former and today's stars from the Skiing World Cup, are not tempted to judge by the name only.

A large number of celebrities from the ski racing sport have already announced their coming. Apart from Austria's current top athletes Reinfried Herbst, Marlies Schild, Rainer Schönfelder, and Nicole Hosp, former winners of the important skiing competitions are going to get together, too. To make the party complete, songwriter and winner of the German music trophy Echo Nik P., Nadja 'Naddel' Abd el Farrag, Kurt Elsasser, and singer Uwe Busse won't miss this event either. Together with the experts, they are going to test the latest models of the coming season on characteristics like swing, grip, and smooth running qualities. Beside this, visitors can look forward to many entertaining events off the pistes as well.

The curtain-raiser of the 'World Skitest 2008', one of the most renowned tests for ski models worldwide, is the fashion show at Panorama Pfiff on Schmittenhöhe. Starting at 20.30, the skiing fashion of the coming season is being presented. Nik P., 'Naddel', and Uwe Busse are going to venture out onto the cat walk made of snow and present the exclusive garments. And, of course, they are already looking forward to performing live on stage with their latest songs, too.
