NAPL To Install India's First Fuzzy Logic Based Fully Automatic Gas Chlorination System

(openPR) - Nagpur Aquatech Pvt Ltd (NAPL) in association with Siemens Water Technologies has bagged the prestigious order from Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran to install fuzzy logic based intelligent fully automatic gas chlorination system at their 32 MLD Wena WTP at Nagpur. Such a advanced chlorination system is one of the first installations across India. The system is having state of the art technology with chlorination equipment from Siemens USA and Control Instrumentation from Siemens Germany.

This fully automatic gas chlorination system comprises of vacuum based gas chlorinators, auto switchover system, residual chlorine analyzer, multi function PLC based controller, actuator, ultrasonic flow transmitter and gas leak monitoring unit. This is based on compound loop control in which chlorine dosage is controlled automatically based on two inputs i.e. the water quality and water flow. The desired chlorine dose has to be pre-programmed in the controller which compares the actual residual chlorine content with the desired value. In case of any deviation the controller generates proportionate electric signals which automatically adjust the chlorine flow rate. This process continues until the actual residual chlorine value matches the desired value. Also this is the only system with built in fuzzy logic due to which the system’s performance improves with every passing day. Also the system comes with auto switchover modules because of which when the chlorine cylinder gets empty, the system automatically starts withdrawing chlorine gas from standby cylinder thereby enabling 24X7 chlorination without any break.

Gas chlorination is always thought of as a risky process as it involves handling of poisonous chlorine gas. However this system works completely under vacuum and is most safe system to prevent any gas leaks. The system has a special gas monitoring unit which constantly monitors chlorine gas cylinders as well as chlorinator room for any gas leaks and even in case of minor leaks it is capable of sensing and raising suitable alarms.

This system is an ideal solution for WTPs looking for high levels of accuracy and consistency in chlorine dosing and at the same time requiring high safety standards for gas handling.
