(openPR) - Jason Steele, Republican candidate for the Florida House of Representatives in District 31, today became the first candidate for state or county office in 2008 in Brevard County to qualify for the ballot using the petition method.

Steele was notified by the Brevard County Supervisor of Elections office that the office has certified that the required number of 810 voters in House District 31 have signed petition cards to gain him access to the 2008 election ballot.

“I am gratified that my grassroots supporters in House District 31 were able to achieve this significant milestone. Reaching the ballot at this early stage in the campaign is a great accomplishment. To be the first candidate in either party in Brevard to be able to do so this year is especially encouraging.

“I believe that the success we have had in securing the assistance of so many people in House District 31 at this early date is a testimony to the desire of the voters to be represented by a proven conservative, with a long record of achievement in both the Republican Party and our community.

“Thanks to all those who have supported me with their signatures on petition cards, their volunteer hours and their financial contributions. I will work hard to merit your continued trust and support,” Steele said.
