The new module with 5.7" display
(openPR) - With the Display on Module family JUPITER, Garz & Fricke presents a completely new concept of intelligent displays with integrated CPU and a comprehensive interface offer. Pre-installed Windows CE 5.0 and .NET Compact Framework 2.0 permits a speedy and cost effective application development.

Hamburg, January 5, 2006: At the fair Embedded World 2006, GANYMED and CALLISTO, the two first members of the new Display-on-Module family JUPITER, will be introduced for the first time. The units based on a 5.7" or 10.4" display represent a new approach to the topic "visualization" in the industrial environment, where a CPU as well as the electronics for the display and the common communication interfaces are attached behind the display in a place-saving manner. Thus, the components are perfectly and individually coordinated. The intelligent display becomes in such a way the construction unit for the device developer.

A 200 MHz ARM9 CPU is used as processor. In connection with a memory of 32MB flash and 64 MB SDRAM, sufficient power - also for demanding applications in the industrial field - is available. Good graphic performance and simple programming make the Display-on-Module from the JUPITER Series a component of choice, e.g. for the point-of-sales or for producing measuring equipment. Even temperatures (-30 to +60o C), the wide-range power input (7 – 30 V) and a compact design – hardly bigger than the display itself – meet these applications.

The equipment offers numerous interfaces for communication with the environment: RS232, Ethernet, USB 1.1 (Host Modus) and Bluetooth are included in the standard scope of supply. With SDIO, more interfaces (e.g. WLAN, GPS) respectively memory may be added. The user input works by default, via touch screen.

Analog and digital in- and outputs allow direct use for control and automation tasks. Garz & Fricke offer thereto example solutions for the control of e.g. stepping motors on basis of Trinamic Motion Control Solutions.

Windows CE 5.0 as operating system has been pre-programmed. The .NET Compact Framework 2.0 and the well-known development tools of the Microsoft Tool Chain, contained in the scope of supply, permit a speedy and cost effective application development. Applications can be designed graphically on the PC and are platform independent by using the .NET environment. As a Windows Embedded Gold Partner, Garz & Fricke offer comprehensive consulting and support for Windows CE. In addition, libraries are available, which enable the use of all interfaces to complex functions, e.g. for the motor control.
