Sew Cute made its debut in January 2005 and the buzz has been growing ever since owner, Lucie Kroeplin, began embroidering her baby boy’s name and initials on clothing for her own son. “I wanted to celebrate having a son…after receiving many compliments from passersby, and making gifts that delighted family and friends, the idea for Sew Cute was born,” states Kroeplin.
Kroeplin says, “Being a Mompreneur is definitely not just about ‘making money’. There are two things that continually happen, and each are equally rewarding every time. One: the look on my customers' faces when they see their baby's name delicately embroidered on a bib or shirt. Two: hearing my customers say ‘Aww, that is ‘Sew Cute’!’...now, that's the biggest reward!”
As a Mompreneur of a young business, time and funding limitations present challenges. The prize would allow Ms. Kroeplin to work with the prize partners, Henderson Partners LLP, on the business plan and processes, and High View Communications, on the public relations plan, maximizing marketing opportunities and bringing Sew Cute into the retail market...all while putting smiles on many more Moms’ faces!
