(openPR) - Free Nutcracker auditions will be held Saturday, September 29th in Brooklyn.

Brooklyn, New York -- August 31, 2007 -- So you think you can dance? If you are between the ages of 6 and 18 and think you can dance or have been bitten by the theater bug, then Brighton Ballet Theater's ( BBT) production of the Nutcracker is for you.

Free auditions will be held for all those interested Saturday, September 29, 2007 from 3 - 6 p.m. at Kingsborough Community College in Brooklyn. Those selected to join the cast will be able to participate in the eight performances of "A Winter Fairy Tale," the holiday ballet based on The Nutcracker during the first two weeks of December.

"All applicants should come prepared to dance," said Vladimir Lepisko, Coordinator for BBT . Registration begins 1/2 hour prior to each audition. Candidates are asked to bring a resume and a headshot. To see audition times, please visit our website: www.brightonballet.com/nutcracker_auditions.htm

Created especially for children, this is a charming introduction to ballet and to the timeless tale of The Nutcracker. In spectacular costumes, dancers from the Brighton Ballet Theater's professional and junior companies recreate that magical night when a young girl sees the Nutcracker and other toys come to life in her living room.

BBT 's version of the Nutcracker departs from the usual winter fairy tale that is seen in American ballet theatres. "Our productions are highly supported by the New York cultural community," said Irina Roizin, President of BBT. "This production will portray the beautiful international diversity of New York with dances representing the countries of Spain , Nigeria , China , India , France and Russia . The ballet culminates in the Land of Freedom rather than the traditional Land of Sweets ."
