BIOS-IT present world’s first patented liquid submersion cooled server for electronic trading at Trade Tech 2012
|Pressemitteilung von: BIOS-IT|
|(openPR) - ExCel Centre, London (24 April, 2012). BIOS-IT, in partnership with Hardcore Computer®, Inc. and Supermicro (NASDAQ: SMCI), is proud to present the LSS® 200, the world’s first patented liquid submersion server, at Trade Tech 2012.
The need for speed within the financial services industry is fuelling innovation within the technology sector. In order to gain that essential competitive edge, electronic trading firms are demanding lower end-to-end latency and faster quantitative analysis.
However, these demands can push the boundaries of conventional computing as the processors within the servers are run at full load for long periods of time, so there is a build-up of unwanted heat. Finding cost effective cooling techniques to eliminate this heat has therefore been a fundamental challenge for financial institutions. Traditionally, large air-conditioning units are installed; however these are inefficient, bulky and expensive to run.
The LSS 200, designed by Hardcore Computer and powered by BIOS-IT and Supermicro, is the world's first patented solution that has been developed specifically to meet these demands. Using total liquid submersion cooling technology the LSS 200 employs performance-enhanced CPUs, a technique that reduces latency and the time taken to process quantitative analysis by as much as 40 per cent.
Liquid submersion cooling requires less physical space and power than air cooling systems too, allowing brokerages to consolidate their data centres into a smaller footprint, or add more processing power, to existing data centre space.
Mr Ian Mellett, General Manager of BIOS-IT, says, “BIOS-IT is delighted to be the only company in the world distributing the innovative LSS 200. The liquid submersion server provides a key tool in the arsenal of financial institutions in the race to zero latency, and we are excited about discussing and demonstrating its amazing performance, improved power efficiency and reliability at Trade Tech 2012.”
For a further, more detailed insight into how liquid cooling technology can deliver significant performance enhancements and reduce latency, BIOS-IT and Hardcore Computer will also be presenting an in-depth whitepaper at the show ‘High Frequency Trading Beats the Heat with Total Liquid Submersion Cooling’.
