| Pressemitteilung von: Bay State Savings Bank |
| (openPR) - BOYLSTON, MA / May 2011 – Last week during a course-side reception at Mount Pleasant Country Club, Bay State Savings Bank presented a $5,000 check to Cherylann Gengel and her mother, Kathy Dicicco to benefit the BeLikeBrit Foundation. The money was raised by Bay State Savings Bank through its Champions for Children initiative, during their March 4th “Dig for Cash” event at Wachusett Mountain. The reception was hosted by Citadel Broadcasting, who also co-sponsored the “Dig for Cash.” Each year, the bank selects one or two deserving organizations, whose mission specifically focuses on helping children, to benefit from its Champions for Children fundraising efforts. This year, BeLikeBrit was chosen, and the check presented by the bank will go toward building an orphanage in Haiti in memory of Britney Gengel, who died in the 2010 earthquake. Since its inception in 2004, Champions for Children has contributed nearly $125,000 to more than 15 local charities. Bay State Savings Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Paul Gilbody says, “I’m very proud to be part of Bay State’s Champions for Children initiative, which is doing so much to improve the lives of children in our community and beyond. The work we do is especially meaningful because we don’t just raise money and hand over a check. We reach out to the recipient organizations and actually partner with them. We establish relationships, which continue long after the work is done. I can truly say, we have met some extraordinary individuals through our Champions for Children fundraising, who like the Gengels, have become our friends. The Gengel family has really touched our hearts with their strength and courage, and their determination to fulfill their daughter’s last wish. We wish them the very best.” For more information about BeLikeBrit and its mission, visit: www.belikebrit.org.
