Nationally-Recognized Transportation & Logistics Lawyer Joins Firm
Mr. Spira served as corporate counsel for Leaseway Transportation Corp., where he prepared operating agreements, was responsible for a wide-range of federal and state regulatory matters, and handled various business transactions. His private practice experience includes negotiating, preparing, and reviewing domestic and international operating contracts for logistics services; equipment leases for carriers, shippers, and transportation intermediaries; owner-operator agreements; trucking agreements; and warehouse service agreements.
He regularly advises carriers on compliance with federal and state transportation laws and regulations, including representing clients before regulatory agencies. Mr. Spira also represents clients on cargo liability damage claims, freight billing and collection disputes, and insurance coverage questions and disputes.
Mr. Spira is a frequent speaker at national logistics seminars and has written extensively on transportation and logistics legal issues. He was the presenter at the SMC3 full-day contract law seminars, has provided the “Update on Motor Carrier Law” for the Association of Transportation Law Professionals, and has provided motor carrier updates at the Transportation Lawyers Association annual conferences. Mr. Spira has written a monthly column, “Logistics and the Law,” for Traffic World magazine (now Journal of Commerce) and authored many other articles for client and trade association newsletters. He is a past president of the Association of Transportation Law Professionals and a member of several professional associations, including the Transportation Lawyers Association, the Ohio Trucking Association, the Northeast Ohio Logistics Network, the Cleveland Freight Association, and is a past section chair of the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association’s International Law Section.
