|(openPR) - Dallas (May 17, 2010) – The global law firm of Thompson & Knight LLP has assisted M2 Midstream LLC (“M2 Midstream”) in the sale of two natural gas gathering and treating systems to Enterprise Products Partners L.P. (“Enterprise”) for $1.2 billion. The acquired gathering and treatment systems include 138 miles of pipelines in Louisiana and Texas, which gather natural gas from the Haynesville and Bossier Shale plays as well as the Cotton Valley and Taylor Sand formations.
The team of Thompson & Knight attorneys working on the transaction included Arthur J. Wright, Ron W. Fry, and Ashleigh Everett of the Oil and Gas Practice Group; Ann Marie Cowdrey, Wesley P. Williams, Jennifer M. Avery, and Susan Marx of the Corporate and Securities Practice Group; R. David Wheat, Shelly A. Youree, and Brandon L. Bloom of the Tax Practice Group; Elizabeth A. Schartz of the Labor and Employment Law Practice Group; and John W. Rain of the Finance Practice Group.
“There are few law firms in Texas that have the resident capabilities and legal expertise that Thompson & Knight has – all of which can be brought to bear within a compressed time frame to execute a transaction of this magnitude and complexity,” says Bill Pritchard, the Chairman of M2 Midstream. “But beyond that, Thompson & Knight is a firm that just knows how to get deals done.”
M2 Midstream is an independent energy company that provides natural gas producers with midstream services linking the wellhead to the market. The company provides gathering, compression, dehydration, conditioning, and processing of raw natural gas through gas gathering systems and is committed to identifying and initiating infrastructure projects in existing and emerging U.S. gas basins.
Enterprise is the largest publicly traded energy partnership and a leading North American provider of midstream energy services to producers and consumers of natural gas, NGL, crude oil, refined products, and petrochemicals. Enterprise’s assets include 49,100 miles of onshore and offshore pipelines; approximately 190 million barrels of storage capacity for NGLs, refined products, and crude oil; and 27 billion cubic feet of natural gas storage capacity.
