Boston, MA – Collectors of Asian art and antiques will have the opportunity to bid live online at four auctions during Asia Week New York, March 18-26, 2011. Included in this weeklong celebration of all things Asian is a drove of Asian art specialists, 18 museums and cultural institutions, special exhibitions from 34 prominent Asian art dealers and a series of Asian art and antique auctions from some of the world's finest auction houses. Featured in the official Asia Week festivities is Doyle New York’s Asian Works of Art Sale, taking place March 21, 2011. This auction presents the arts of China, Japan, Korea and Southeast Asia dating from the Neolithic Period through the 20th Century. Offerings include pottery and porcelain, jade, scholar’s objects, bronzes, screens, furniture and paintings. Of particular interest is a Chinese jade eight-panel floor screen from the Qing Dynasty. The intricately carved floor screen boasts 15 jade panels of various heights, each with a width of 14.75 inches.

Experts in the art and antiques auction industry for over 200 years, Freeman’s Auctioneers is presenting a stunning lineup of fine art and antiques from Asia on March 19, 2011. After establishing a separate department for fine and decorative Asian arts in 2006, Freeman’s has maintained a strong presence in the field, attracting a following among American collectors and those from Asia and Europe. Freeman’s March sale is one of two popular Asian arts sales conducted annual by the department. Past highlights include a Chinese hongmu altar table that sold for $121,000 and a Chinese huanghuali painting table that brought $90,000.

Veteran auctioneers I.M. Chait also host their Important Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art auction March 21, 2011. Headlining the sale is a Chinese Ming Dynasty blue and white porcelain palace vase. This remarkable object is designed in an elongated beaker form, with two molded lion head handles. A detailed dragon and phoenix floral motif adorns the vase’s exterior in the period’s iconic blue tones. The vase is approximately 34 inches in height and is accompanied by a custom wood stand.

Hong Kong Auction of New York will offer their Asian Arts Week Auction on March 20, 2011. Hong Kong Auction offers year-round sales of Asian arts and antiques and is presenting a fine selection of ceramics, bronzes, fine art and more. Featured in this sale is a Coral Ground Famille garlic-head vase. The colorful vase boasts a floral design accented by white blossoms and a white bird on a bold red background.
