A journey to Salzburg promises: art treasures, great music experiences, Mozart’s traces as well as traditional hospitality.

Salzburg is one of the loveliest places in Europe. The old town has preserved its baroque architecture in almost perfect condition, a closed ensemble on smallest area, nearly as in Mozart’s times.

There is so much to visit and to look at in Salzburg. The visitors find a wealth of interesting places and worth seeing monuments. Impressive residences and palaces, remarkable buildings of churches, abbeys and monasteries, medieval houses and towers constitute the incomparable attraction of this old town. The convenient location is its characteristic. The “Salzach” River winds through the old town which is surrounded by the “City Mountains”, the “Mönchsberg” crowned by the mighty fortress Hohensalzburg and the “Kapuzinerberg” with a monastery.

In 2006 Salzburg is an international focal point of the Mozart’s Year celebrations. Many references to Mozart, his work and his family can be found in Salzburg: Mozart’s birthplace and the family’s residence, the working places and performance locations.
And of course the visitors get in contact with his music. A rich variety of operas and concerts take place throughout the year and invite to music experience: Salzburg Palace Concerts, Mozart Piano Sonatas, Salzburg Fortress Concerts, Salzburg Residence Concerts, Mozart Dinner Concert and Salzburg Marionette Theatre.

The special concert series “Best of Mozart” is a unique concert experience. A wide selection of Mozart's loveliest melodies from its operas and symphonies will be performed by selected soloists.

The highlight of the Mozart Year in Salzburg is the Summer Festival from July 23 to August 31. All of Mozart's stage works, all 22 operas including early works and fragments will be in this year's program.

Folklore afternoons at the “Hedge Theatre” are very amusing. The "Hedge Theatre" was built in 1704 and serves as the backdrop for the annual summer festival performances by local folk groups, vocalists and musicians.

The museums and galleries of the city present all kind of arts: masterpieces of the European painting at the Residence Gallery and contemporary art in the “Museum der Moderne Salzburg Mönchsberg” and in the “Rupertinum”. The exhibition „Viva Mozart!” will give visitors an opportunity to glance behind the scenes of the legendary Mozart. Robert Wilson’s „A space for Mozart“ presented in Mozart’s birthplace (Mozart house) is amazing and amusing.

A recommendable address in Salzburg is the tastefully hotel “Airporthotel Salzburg” run by family Gappmayer. Travellers appreciate the hospitality, the amenities and the pleasant environment at the entrance to the Mozart city.
