Customers design their own mobile services

Press release from: Orga Systems GmbH
(openPR) - Orga Systems provides technology for Internet-based services

Paderborn, September 15, 2009 – Mobile subscribers have long since had the possibility of generating their own services. However, the number of users has remained small. The mobile network operators incur large costs, calling economic efficiency into question. Together with other European science and business partners Orga Systems is working in the research project 'uService' to prove the user and operator benefit of new Internet-based mobile services.

'uService' combines social networks with new services
The focus of the research project is on developing and testing new mobile services and content. One application scenario will enable runners to use a mobile terminal anywhere in the world for capturing data on their training, the route they ran, their speed or heart rate. There is an intelligent integration of the idea of social networks, mainly driven by numerous web-based forums and communities: Meeting other interested runners in the same area, exchanging information on routes – everything is made possible. Whereas the direct transmission of running data to the trainer or doctor is a clear end user benefit, the mobile network operator can see an equally attractive approach in the possibility of placing context-based advertisements.

Real-time data transmission is the critical factor
For the new services to successfully penetrate the mobile communication markets two basic preconditions have to be in place: On the one hand real-time data transmission which allows the operator to bill the generated services, on the other hand real-time interaction which actually brings a noticeable benefit to the end user of the services. In order to secure both preconditions, Orga Systems provides its know-how with world-wide reputation in the field of real-time based billing of mobile communication services. Precise data generation and data evaluation, the combination of subscriber services and self-generated services as well as the integration with customer loyalty programs and special local services make this project an ideal platform for Orga Systems to prove the company's expertise once again.

An interdisciplinary consortium
The German project partners in the 'uService' project – Orga Systems GmbH, Sagem Orga GmbH, Communology GmbH, the German Centre for Running Therapy, the German Research Centre for Artificial Intelligence, and Rostock University – are supported by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.
