Marchi left politics in 1999 to accept an appointment as Canadian Ambassador to the World Trade Organisation in Geneva. In the private sector he has fulfilled roles as the Senior Business Advisor, Lang Michener LLP, from 2006 to 2008 and is the Senior Advisor, to the Chairman of a Family-owned International Business Enterprise. He was also the Chairman of the Canadian Services Coalition from 2006 to 2008.
