Lantronix Ships Two Millionth XPort Embedded Ethernet Device Server
Press release from: Lantronix

(openPR) - Lantronix, Inc. (Nasdaq:LTRX), a leading provider of secure, remote device networking and data centre management technologies, today announced the shipment of its two millionth XPort® networking module, marking a significant milestone for the company’s most popular product.
XPort is an embedded Ethernet device server, allowing OEMs to network-enable virtually any type of equipment for remote access and management via a LAN or the Internet. The product defined a new category of self-contained miniature networking computers by providing unprecedented reliability and ease-of-use. It allowed a new generation of electronic devices, in industries as varied as medical to industrial automation, to leverage the power of the Internet.
XPort launched in 2004 to critical acclaim for remarkably shortening development time for new networked designs and has shipped at an average rate of approximately one every minute since its introduction.
AVTECH, a leading manufacturer of computer room environment monitoring software and hardware is a classic example of a successful XPort implementation. AVTECH used XPort to connect its serial-based products to the network. This allowed the company to focus on software development; its core strength. XPort removed all configuration complexity so AVTECH could easily create custom firmware loaded on the device that provides a Web interface, email, SNMP and much more.
“XPort is a complete, plug-in module that required little effort on our end to fit the serial products, creating a seamless connection to the network,” said Richard Grundy, Director of Engineering at AVTECH. “Not only has this allowed us to create products that better monitor our customers’ computing environments, but Lantronix has provided excellent support, making all the difference.”
“We are proud to celebrate this important milestone and want to thank our customers for their business and ongoing support of XPort and Lantronix,” said Jerry Chase, CEO of Lantronix. “Our customers can count on us to continually improve XPort in order to stay at the forefront of their networking needs for many years to come.”
Lantronix continues to evolve the XPort platform to meet ongoing consumer demand for enhanced speed and throughput, bullet-proof security and application-specific customisation, while maintaining XPort’s hold as the smallest device server on the market.
