The Austrian programme on genomic research, GEN-AU got involved in several transnational research projects. Within GEN-AU the project CANCERMOTYSIS focuses on new therapeutic options for advanced stomach cancer. The Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and Research together with the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research promote that project, which is coordinated by Julian Mattes from the Software Competence Center Hagenberg (SCCH).

Systems biology

„We execute novel analysis in the field of systems biology, with the aim to declare the efficiency of a therapeutic for stomach carcinoma”, states Julian Mattes. By means of therapeutic antibodies the researches attempt to block the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR). This is a protein, which activates the cell metabolism and is underrepresented in the tumor cells of the stomach carcinoma.

Transnational cooperation

CANCERMOTYSIS is a joint project between academic and industrial partner from Austria and Germany. About 17 researcher work within that project. Systems biology is a growing aspect in the field biological research. An interdisciplinary approach combines mathematical concepts, computer aided operations und biological experiments.

Project partner

GENAU: facts and figures

The GEN-AU programme started in 2001 by an initiative of The Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and Research and it is determined for nine years. At present the third phase has started. The Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG) manages that programme. Within phase one and phase two, 200 researcher of 160 research facilities allover Austria worked on 58 different projects. More than 300 publications and 30 letters patents are one result of that programme. Phase three focuses on systems biology approaches as well as the international integration of Austrian research staff.

New Polarion Integration Plugin for Hudson
"This plugin extends Hudson, which is a popular stand-alone continuous integration tool. It integrates Polarion into Hudson, so that workitem identifiers found in changeset descriptions are hyperlinked to the corresponding workitem detail page in Polarion", says Hermann Lacheiner, who developed that plugin. Recently Hudson became a popular tool for continuous integration. Its strength lies in its flexibility and extensibility, e.g. not only Hudson can be used to build Maven
