(openPR) - MAN Nutzfahrzeuge decided to implement ORion-PI® of Axxom to optimize its European empty container network. By using the software MAN wants to reduce transport costs, to enhance security of supply by optimal container availability and to increase transparency about flow of commodities, processes and costs.

Six main and ten sub locations provide Man’s European production plants with more than 30 different containers of around 1.800 suppliers. The commercial vehicle manufacturer will now use Axxom’s software analysing and optimizing the existing network. ORion-PI® will simulate different scenarios of the network and identify approaches to improvements – for example by re-assigning suppliers, capacities and containers to different locations. Thus, unnecessary transports can be avoided, leading to lower transport costs and CO2 emissions.
