(openPR) - Total Hockey recently became a supplier of sled hockey composite sticks and replacement blades in its retail store locations as well as online at totalhockey.net, making this equipment more accessible to all players nationwide. Currently, Total Hockey carries Warrior two-piece composite hockey sticks, shafts and replacement blades as well as Easton one-piece composite sticks and replacement blades. Both are available in left and right hand.

“The sled hockey community is thrilled to have Total Hockey provide a great avenue for players to purchase sled hockey sticks and blades,” said Dan Brennan, General Manager of the U.S. National Sled Hockey Team. “It’s a growing sport across the United States and now with Total Hockey’s support, players will have easy access to purchase sticks that were not readily available in the past.”

Sled hockey is a form of hockey that enables the physically disabled to play the sport. The rules are typically the same as ice hockey, with the exception of some equipment. Players sit in specially designed sleds that rest on top of two hockey skate blades. Each player uses two shortened hockey sticks, which feature a blade on one end and a metal pick on the other, allowing players to propel the sleds on the ice. Goalies wear basically the same equipment, but modify the glove by sewing metal picks on the backside, which provides increased maneuverability.

Supplying sled hockey equipment is one of many initiatives of Total Hockey’s Grow the Game campaign, which promotes the growth of hockey starting at a youth level. Future endeavors encourage hockey in the community by creating awareness of the sport, enhancing interest in the game among children and ultimately increasing involvement by learning to play hockey.
