(openPR) - Members of the IO-Link-Consortium, consisting of the companies Sick AG, Phoenix Contact, Turck, Bosch Rexroth, Wago, Festo, Pepperl+Fuchs and Heidenhain, have jointly decided to place an order to the M&M Software for the development of a generic IODD- Interpreter and DTM.
IO-Link is a standardized communication protocol for the efficient linking of sensors and actuators in the lower field level. The sensors and actuators are described with the IODD (IO-Link Device Description).
Almost all IO-Link devices can be parameterized with the IODD-Interpreter DTM that was developed by M&M Software. With this innovative principle, the IODD is interpreted and converted into a runtime device model. This device model will be hosted inside a DTM which can be used in each FDT frame application (www.fdtcontainer.com). This cutting-edge development, which is based on the .NET-Technology, has the advantage that it is no longer necessary to develop a separate DTM for each device; a universal solution is now available to take care of these needs.
Thanks to the modular architecture, the IODD interpreter can also be used as a standalone component, without a link to the DTM. This scenario would be a perfect solution for companies, who wish a direct integration into their software environment.
Apart from the vast experience of the software company in the area of the FDT/DTM technology, other main factors for awarding the development contract to the M&M Software were also the protection of the capital invested by a comprehensive service- and maintenance concept, which assures the functionality and efficiency of the software.
After the completion and delivery to the customer, the IODD-Interpreter DTM will be available as a new product from M&M Software by the end of 2009. www.mm-software.com
