(openPR) - Torrance, CA -- This past April, to meet the demand for expanded programs and increased enrollments, The Center for Learning Unlimited celebrated an historic milestone with its long-awaited move to a new and larger school home. After a number of years on Silver Spur Road in Rolling Hills, staff and students are now settling in at 2785 Pacific Coast Highway, Suite G, in Torrance Towne Center, near the intersection of Crenshaw Blvd., in Torrance.
"Many friends of The Center have come together to help make this move possible," stated Ginny Erxleben Matthews, CLU co-founder and director. "We are deeply grateful for their tireless efforts on behalf of the children and families we serve."
Established in 1985, CLU is a highly specialized, non-public day school that provides comprehensive educational and social-emotional interventions to high-functioning students with complex learning differences, as well as on-going support and solutions for the entire family. Currently, the school accepts students in its regular-school-year programs in grades three through 12. Referrals may be initiated by parents, professionals or other schools, and enrollement may be for full- or part-time programs. After school and summertime academic and recreational programs are also available.
As the regular school year comes to a close, CLU is making plans for the summer, with various sessions and programs in session from June 29 through August 30. Academic programs, with small class size ratios at three to one, will be offered in lower/middle (3 - 8) and upper (9 - 12) school groupings, June 29 - August 7. In addition, one-to-one tutorial support, SAT/ACT Warm Up and individual "Building Confidence" sections will be offered on the school's busy summer schedule.
Also featured is a full line-up of non-academic summer fun in the afternoon as part of CLU's Relationship Activity Program, or RAP. The lower school program will be geared to children ages five to nine and the middle/upper school program, to ages 10 - 17. Both on- and off-campus activities are blended into this purposeful mix of relationhip-building activities.
Summer Day Camp takes place August 10 - 21 for lower/middle school students. Then, the summer's activities wind-up with First Steps Overnight Camp for middle schoolers, August 28 - 30.
